Forensic experts refuse to recognize death of Ipatov from Sochi as a suicide

According to a medical certificate on death of Yevgeny Ipatov from Sochi, who was found dead after recording a video with a story of torture by law enforcers, an examination of his body did not allow forensic experts to consider his death a suicide or a murder.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 24, 2021, the newspaper “Novaya Gazeta” reported that Yevgeny Ipatov was detained by law enforcers and then released. However, several days later, he was found dead on railway tracks in Adler. The “Novaya Gazeta” released a video, recorded by Yevgeny Ipatov before his death, in which he complained that he was tortured and that law enforcers tried to force him to incriminate himself and confess to stealing 60,000 roubles from a couple of pensioners.

According to the medical certificate on the Yevgeny Ipatov’s death, signed by three forensic experts, “the cause of death has not been identified.”

Thus, the forensic experts has not confirmed or refuted the version about the Yevgeny Ipatov’s suicide, murder, or accident.

Lyudmila Zyankina, a mother of Yevgeny Ipatov, states that the case on her son’s death contains more questions than answers. In particular, the woman tries to understand on what grounds and when exactly her son was accused of stealing money from pensioners, at what stage of the investigation the criminal case is, and how parents can be sure that they received their son’s body if they were given out a body in a closed coffin, without identification procedure in morgue. According to Lyudmila Zyankina, she prepares to write the above and other questions in her letter to the General Prosecutor’s Office.
