Outcomes of State Duma elections in SFD regions show "Edinaya Rossiya" dominance
In the overwhelming majority of regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD) of Russia, candidates from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party have won the elections to the State Duma in single-mandate constituencies, with the exception of Adygea, where the self-nominated candidate Vladislav Reznik has won. The Party is also among the leaders on federal lists. The voter turnout in all regions was below 70%.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the SFD, the State Duma elections were accompanied by scandals. In the Volgograd Region, the opposition claimed that observers were not allowed to check voters' registers of at home (travel) voting, and voters' lists; when the safe packages were opened, the number of ballot papers found there was not counted. In Kalmykia, the election results were cancelled at the precinct in the settlement of Primanych; and in Adygea, the chairwoman of one of the precinct election commissions (PECs) confessed to ballot stuffing on her own initiative.
Let us note here that in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), the lowest voter turnout was registered in the Stavropol Territory – 67.13%. The highest turnout was in Chechnya, where, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 94.42% of the voters came to the polls.
