Azerbaijani soldier detained in Nagorno-Karabakh

A soldier of the Azerbaijani army entered a private house in Martakert and threatened minors, the Prosecutor’s Office of Nagorno-Karabakh reported. The soldier was treated in a psychiatric ward and escaped from the hospital, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

According to the version of the Nagorno-Karabakh Prosecutor’s Office, Djamil Babaev, detained on August 25, was a spy, and his appearance in the house in Martakert created a threat to the lives of the minor children living there.

“The Azerbaijani soldier entered the house in Martakert, where the children stayed alone. He felt like at home. He was eating, drinking, and smoking. He threatened to stab the children with a knife. Fortunately, the children managed to escape from the house and call the police,” Rita Airapetyan, a resident of Martakert, wrote on Facebook.

The incident demonstrated that the borders and roads are guarded not sufficiently, says Bella Lalayan, a resident of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The soldier presumably entered the territory controlled by the Russian peacekeepers,” the press service for the MoD of Azerbaijan reported.
