Girlfriend of Suleimanova, who went missing in Chechnya, complains about investigators' inaction

Elena Patyaeva has sent her complaints to the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) about the inaction of the investigators who deal with the disappearance case of her girlfriend, Seda Suleimanova.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2024, it became known that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was inquiring the disappearance of Seda Suleimanova under the murder article. On April 26, 2024, an investigator in Chechnya questioned Elena Patyaeva. However, last June, she stated that within the three months since the case was opened, investigators had failed to come to any conclusions.

Elena's first complaint deals with the fact that there has been no progress in the criminal case so far; the second one concerns the fact that Patyaeva has not yet received a response from the Chechen Branch of the ICRF to her statement about law enforcers' illegal actions, the human rights "SK SOS Crisis Group"* has reported in its Telegram channel.

In August 2024, Patyaeva demanded from the ICRF to initiate a criminal case on the actions of the law enforcers, who allowed Seda to be sent to Chechnya despite her words about the repressions that threatened her there. However, her demand was forwarded to Chechnya.

The result of forwarding the Patyaeva's complaint to Chechnya could be a formal reply or an imitation of an inquiry, human rights defenders have noted.
