Election commission registers Kadyrov as a candidate to lead Chechnya

Ramzan Kadyrov got a certificate of the candidate from the “Edinaya Rossiya” (United Russia) Party in the election for the leader of Chechnya, scheduled for September 19.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 6, Ramzan Kadyrov submitted to the election commission the documents for his nomination as a candidate from the “United Russia” Party for the elections of the leader of the region, scheduled for September 19.

In 2016, Ramzan Kadyrov was elected for his third term. According to the official information, he gained 97% of the votes. Even before the voting, residents of Chechnya claimed that the outcome of the elections was determined in advance. Ramzan Kadyrov’s 14-year experience as the leader of Chechnya is the longest among the leaders of the Russian regions.

Let us remind you that on June 23, participants in the World Congress of the Peoples of Chechnya called on Ramzan Kadyrov to nominate himself for participation in the election for the leader of the region. Ramzan Kadyrov promised to convey the position of the Chechen people to President Vladimir Putin, and on the same day he did so. Then the Russian President recommended Ramzan Kadyrov to participate in the election in order to continue to lead Chechnya.

Earlier, on May 20, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that he would not participate in the election if at least “a few percent of the population” opposed his candidacy.
