Pashinyan reappointed Prime Minister of Armenia

The President of Armenia signed a decree on the appointment of Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister, whose candidacy was proposed by the “Civil Contract” faction on the first day of the work of the new parliament.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 17, despite the opposition’s protest, the Constitutional Court of Armenia approved the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the results of the early parliamentary elections.

Today, Armenian President Armen Sarkisyan has signed a decree on the appointment of Nikol Pashinyan to the post of Prime Minister, the “News-Armenia” reports.

Earlier today, the “Civil Contract” faction has officially nominated acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a candidate for prime minister, the “Sputnik Armenia” reports.

According to the Constitution of Armenia, after the beginning of the term of office of the newly elected National Assembly, the president immediately appoints a candidate nominated by the parliamentary majority as prime minister. The government is to be formed within 15 days after the appointment of the prime minister. After that, the chair of the government must submit the programme of the Cabinet of Ministers to the National Assembly within 20 days, the “Sputnik Armenia” reports.
