Thirteen Armenian soldiers sentenced in Baku on terrorism charges

The Baku Court on Grave Crimes sentenced 13 Armenian citizens to six years of imprisonment. The defendants were accused of creating an armed grouping, terrorism, and illegal crossing of the Azerbaijani border near the town of Gadrut.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 15, 2020, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh lost contact with soldiers of several military posts in the area of the villages of Khtsaberd and Khin Takher (the Azerbaijani names are Chailakkala and Kyokhne Taglar, respectively, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”). According to the information of the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman, about 60 soldiers were captured in the area of the village of Khtsaberd.

According to the APA agency, the court found the defendants guilty of illegal acquisition of weapons and ammunition and illegal crossing of the Azerbaijani border by an organized grouping. Each defendant is sentenced to six years of imprisonment.

Let us remind you that according to the Azerbaijani investigators’ version, a group of Armenian residents bought weapons and ammunition and created an armed grouping. On November 26-27, 2020, the suspects crossed the border of Azerbaijan and took up combat positions in the forest in the town of Gadrut. Until December 13, the suspects were attacking enterprises and institutions in Azerbaijan and committing explosions and arsons, the “Trend.az” reports the version of the Azerbaijani investigators as claiming.
