Dubakov sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for taking part in Karabakh war

In Baku, a court has recognized Russian citizen Eduard Dubakov as a participant in the battles against Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that according to the prosecutors’ version, Eduard Dubakov was involved in the war by the Armenian side. On July 7, at a court hearing, Eduard Dubakov retracted his confessions and said that he had given them to investigators under pressure.

Today, in Baku, the court has sentenced Eduard Dubakov to 10 years of imprisonment and after serving his sentence in a high-security penal colony, he will be forcibly deported, the APA news agency reports today.

In his final speech, Eduard Dubakov has pleaded not guilty and said that he believed in the fair judgement of the court. After that, the court retired to a meeting to pass a verdict, Trend.az reported today.

According to the prosecutors’ version, Eduard Dubakov illegally visited Nagorno-Karabakh, where he took part in military exercises on the territory of the Kelbajar District. Then, on January 14, he arrived in Azerbaijan from Turkey to commit a terror act and provocations, after which he was detained, the “Vesti.az” online edition reports today.
