Film by KBR director put into programme of Cannes Film Festival
The film "By Unclenching the Fists", directed by Kira Kovalenko, a filmmaker from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), has been included into the programme "Un Certain Regard" (From Another Angle) of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
The filming took place in North Ossetia, said Alexander Rodniansky, the film producer. "The film is unusual in that it reveals the life in North Ossetia, earlier not explored in cinematography," the TASS quoted him as saying.
The film tells about a family in a highland settlement; about its problems and children's departure from excessive parental care.
Let us remind you that films by KBR directors repeatedly took part in the Cannes Film Festival. Thus, on May 24, 2019, Kantemir Balagov was awarded as the best director in the "Un Certain Regard" nomination. In 2018, another KBR director, Vladimir Bitokov, presented his film "Deep Rivers" at a number of film festivals.
Balagov, Bitokov and Kovalenko, are pupils of Alexander Sokurov, a famous Russian film director.
