Political analysts exclude direct link of Kerimov's large-scale charity action with elections

On the occasion of the Ramadan, Senator Suleiman Kerimov has promised to pay 20,000 roubles to each needy family in need in several districts of Dagestan. Kerimov is so popular in the republic that he needs no charity actions to raise his rating, the political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Suleiman Kerimov is known in Dagestan, and especially in Derbent, for his charitable projects. In the spring of 2020, he allocated more than 1.5 billion roubles to help Dagestani doctors in purchasing expensive lungs ventilators, thermal imagers and many other items.

More than 1000 families from the Derbent District are on the list for the above one-time financial aid in the amount of 20,000 roubles provided by Suleiman Kerimov, Adil Keibov, the chairman of the council of Imams of the Derbent District, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The list contains incomplete, large and low-income families, as well as the families where children are under guardianship.

The peculiarity of Kerimov's current charity action is that it is held in several districts of Dagestan at once, said Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the RIA "Derbent". He is sure that the action has nothing to do with the upcoming autumn elections, because Suleiman Kerimov, being a major political figure, has no need to hold such charitable actions with the aim to increase his political rating and solve any of his political problems.
