Robert Kocharyan's supporters hold a protest action in Yerevan
Today, in Yerevan, activists have blocked one of the streets with the demand to close the criminal case against Robert Kocharyan, the second President of Armenia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 29, 2020, the Administrative Court of Armenia granted the defence's motion for a stay of Robert Kocharyan, the second president of Armenia, at a medical centre until the end of the coronavirus pandemic. In June 2020, Robert Kocharyan was released on bail.
The former president of Armenia is charged in the case on dispersing a rally in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008, during which ten people were killed.
Today, the activists have blocked Arshakunyants Avenue near the courthouse in Yerevan and thus stopped traffic along this part of the street. The supporters of the second president of Armenia demanded to close the criminal case against him and other defendants in the "March 1, 2008" case. The next court hearing in the case took place against the background of the protest action, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.
Some of the protesters were outraged by the fact that "the people who liberated the lands of Nagorno-Karabakh are being brought to court." "There is an absurd situation: the authorities that surrendered Shushi are judging the people who liberated Shushi," one of the protesters said live to the "Factor.am", as translated from the Armenian language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
