Prosecutors listen to Nagavkin after his detention in Volgograd
After the detention of Igor Nagavkin during a picket, the Prosecutor's Office for the Volgograd Region accepted his complaint against investigators and promised to examine the case before confirming the indictment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Igor Nagavkin, an expert of the all-Russian movement "For Human Rights" in the Southern Federal District (SFD), has come to the building of the Prosecutor's Office for the Volgograd Region to hold a solo picket with the demand to check whether the criminal case had been lawfully instituted against him. The police detained the picketer. When the activist was released, he resumed his picket.
In October 2016, Igor Nagavkin was arrested on suspicion of theft. Igor refused to plead guilty. In April 2017, he was transferred from Volgograd to Moscow; and in November 2018, he was released from arrest by the decision of the Moscow City Court.
According to the Igor Nagavkin's version, he held his repeated picket for an hour, and then an assistant prosecutor invited him to her office. "She accepted a complaint from me. I was also met by the chief of the Department for Supervision of Procedural and Investigative Activities, and he listened to me," the activist reported.
Igor Nagavkin associates the criminal proceedings against him with his human rights activities. "I defended prisoners, and I spoke out against torture," the activist said.
