Relatives complain about disappearance of Grozny resident after his detention
About two weeks ago, law enforcers detained Akhmed Kabilov, a 27-year-old resident of the Zavodskoi District of Grozny, and searched his house. Since then, relatives of the detainee have not had any information about him, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.
On the evening of December 29, 2020, about fifteen law enforcers broke into the Akhmed Kabilov's house, searched it, and took the owner out into the street, not allowing him to put on warm clothes. Apart from Akhmed, his mother Lida Kabilova was in the house at that moment. The law enforcers refused to produce their IDs or any warrants and ignored all questions, the HRC "Memorial" reports on its website today.
During the searches, the law enforcers seized the Akhmed's mobile phone and two mobile phones of his mother. Nothing illegal was discovered in the house. After Akhmed Kabilov was detained, his relatives addressed a local district police inspector, who informed them that Akhmed would soon be released. However, two days later, the police inspector told the detainee's relatives that Akhmed Kabilov was being kept at one of the police stations in Grozny and that the police "were going to bring the detainee to trial," the HRC "Memorial" reports in its press release.
