Three activists detained at a protest action in Batumi

Law enforcers have detained Djelal Kikava, an oppositionist, for disobeying the police, as well as two other protesters in Batumi; one of them was hospitalized.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that protest actions have been held in Georgia every day since November 1. During a rally near the building of the Central Election Commission (CEC), law enforcers used water cannons and tear gas; 10 protesters, 14 law enforcers and three journalists were injured. The international community should react to authorities' actions, protesters have claimed.

On November 17, a protest action was held at the house of the Adjara Government in Batumi. Protesters demanded repeated parliamentary elections. A verbal skirmish broke out of protesters with law enforcers, which escalated into a skirmish.

The clash was due to the fact that activists were pasting stickers "Shame" to the walls of the government building, said Miya Kedelidze, a local resident.

The press service of the United National Movement (UNM) has noted that one of the detainees, a party activist, Djelal Kikava, is kept in a pre-trial detention cell, although he is already an elderly man and received traumas.

Rallies are held in Batumi every day since November 8, said Khatuna Beridze, the head of the NGO "Alternative" in Batumi.
