Azerbaijan announces control restoration over 13 villages in conflict zone
Azerbaijani soldiers have entered 13 more villages in the southern part of the Karabakh conflict zone, President Ilham Aliev has announced. Two of these villages are located in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, Azad Isazade, an expert, has noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by October 21, Azerbaijan announced the establishment of control over 119 dwelling settlements, including two strategically important district centres – the cities of Djebrail and Gadrut.
Armenia has refuted the information about the loss of Djebrail and Gadrut. Russian experts have treated the contradictions in the parties' statements as an element of an information war.
The Azerbaijani Army has occupied 13 more settlements, President Aliev wrote in his Twitter. This is the first message since September 27 that Azerbaijani soldiers have entered the territory of the Gubadli District, Azad Isazade has noted.
Ilham Aliev treats residents of Nagorno-Karabakh as Azerbaijani citizens, the ONA Agency reports. He has noted that he does not admit any chance of holding a referendum on the territorial affiliation of Karabakh.
