Special and counterterrorist operations
On October 11, during a counterterrorist operation (CTO), two kilometres south-west of the village of Assinovskaya in the Sernovodsky District of Chechnya, not far from the border with the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, law enforcers discovered suspected members of the armed underground. When requested to surrender, the suspects opened fire. A shootout occurred, in which two suspected militants were killed.
Detentions
On October 7, a 23-year-old suspected supporter of the terrorist grouping "Islamic State" (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), was detained in Stavropol. According to the investigators' version, the suspect was plotting explosions in the courthouse and the building of the Prosecutor's Office. He rented an apartment in Stavropol and watched the House of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office. The suspect purchased in stores components to manufacture an improvised explosive device (IED) and assembled it in the rented apartment. Then the suspect again went to the courthouse, where he was detained by FSB agents.
