Azerbaijani activist Agil Magerramov placed into dungeon
Agil Magerramov, a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who is under quarantine in a prison hospital, was placed into dungeon (punishment cell) for 10 days. He was punished for his protests against the hospital staff's actions against his detained party comrades, the "Turan" News Agency has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, 2019, the court found five PFPA activists guilty of money laundering. Agil Magerramov was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
Law enforcers accused Magerramov, Ruslan Nasirli, the chairman of the Mejlis of the PFPA's youth committee, Babek Gasanov, the head of one of the PFPA district organizations, and Salekh Rustamov, a Russian citizen, and his nephew, Vidadi Rustamli, of money laundering. According to investigators, Rustamov had collected funds from the Azerbaijani citizens engaged in businesses in Russia in support of the PFPA in the amount of USD 412,000. Their advocates claimed that their clients were tortured.
Earlier, on July 19, 2020, 40 prisoners, including Magerramov, who passed the coronavirus test, were transferred from the colony to a medical facility (prison hospital), the "Massa.az" reports.
