Residents of Georgia support Belarusian protesters
Participants of the actions held in Tbilisi and Batumi have called on the Georgian authorities not to recognize the outcomes of the presidential election in Belarus, where opponents of Alexander Lukashenko are holding protests since August 9.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the vote, protests began in Belarus, where the participants treat the voting outcomes as falsified. The actions are harshly suppressed by law enforcers. Social networks users have treated the congratulations addressed to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to Lukashenko as ridiculous, and also compared the story shown by Belarusian TV with public humiliations on the air of the "Grozny" TV Company.
Today, activists came out in Tbilisi and Batumi to support protesters in Belarus.
In Tbilisi, those gathered for a solidarity action demanded from the Georgian authorities not to recognize the results of the presidential election in Belarus, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
In Batumi, activists held a march, demanding from the Georgian authorities not to recognize the Belarusian election and to condemn the violence against protesters, the "Sova.news" writes.
Let us note that Lukashenko keeps the presidential post in Belarus since 1994.
