Police release bikers in defence of Amulsar

The detained participants of the bicycle ride in Yerevan were released from police stations; protocols were drawn up on them for disobeying police's demands, but cyclists have disagreed with the charges.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 6, in Yerevan the participants of the bicycle ride in defence of Amulsar were detained by the police. Law enforcers loaded their bicycles into a special police vehicle.

The detained cyclists could not count how many of them were detained, since they were taken to different police stations in Yerevan and released at different times, Lilit Akopyan, one of the cyclists, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. She noted that the detainees were released after protocols had been drawn up against them on an administrative offense of disobeying policemen's demands.

Levon Galstyan, a member of the Armenian Ecological Front, who was detained while filming the process of loading bicycles into a special police vehicle, did not understand the reason for his detention. "There was no one next to me. I was filming, when two special agents approached me and twisted my arms. At the police station, they drew up a protocol on my disobedience to the police, but it remained a mystery when and under what circumstances I did not obey," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
