Four PFPA activists detained in Baku after action in army support

The detentions of activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) have to do with a mass action in support of the army, which took place on July 15 in front of the parliament, the PFPA said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 15, a non-sanctioned march in support of the Azerbaijani Army was held in Baku, which led to activists' clashes with the police. The PFPA reported that eight of its activists were detained after the action.

In the late afternoon on July 18, four more party activists were detained, said Ilham Gusein, a member of the PFPA Presidium.

"It's unknown where they are kept. Most likely, they were detained in connection with the July 15 action," Mr Gusein told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ilham Gusein has noted that after the events in front of the parliament, a total of 12 people were detained. Three of them were released after interrogation; two are under arrest; others' status is not yet known.
