Analysts explain successes of IS* recruiters in Southern Russia

The increased level of violence in the society and absence of social elevators contribute to young people's radicalization and push them to join terrorist organizations, which is now quite easy, the analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted in their comments on the prevention of the terror act in Astrakhan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7, the FSB reported on a terror act prevented in Astrakhan. Its agents detained an Astrakhan resident who had taken an oath to the leader of the Islamic State*, recognizing him to be his Amir.

On July 8, Professor Alexander Strizoe from the Volgograd State University told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was observing a trend towards increased violence among young people, which eventually pushes them to join the IS*.

"Violence is regarded as a simple method for resolving social problems. The trend is fraught with unpredictable phenomena in the society, which could lead to a civil war," Professor believes.

He has noted that "various Islamist structures" are benefiting from the unstable state of youth in the Caucasus, which allows them to easily recruit new supporters. "The success of the IS* and other terrorist organizations in recruiting people is caused by the absence of social elevators in the society," Professor Strizoe has concluded.

* Islamic State (IS, former ISIL) is a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court
