Instagram users outraged by selective approach to fines for mask absence in Chechnya
Only ordinary citizens are punished for breaking the mask regime in Chechnya, while officials and law enforcers neglect protection means, social network users assert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 1, Chechen authorities announced some quarantine easing, but the mask regime was preserved. Magomed Daudov, Parliament Speaker, threatened with fines and two-week quarantine for mask violators and members of their families.
In the Nozhai-Yurt District, eight people were fined for not wearing medical masks.
"Employees without masks are driving, I see them all the time," the user marik12preida has noted on the Instagram.
Some users have doubted the need to wear masks while in their own car.
Residents of the republic note that they are punished selectively for non-compliance with the mask regime. Luckman said that he met a lot of people without masks in central Grozny, especially women, but did not see them being detained.
In his turn, a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) asserts that only malicious offenders of the mask regime are being fined in Chechnya. He has stated that in most cases policemen restrict themselves by verbal warnings.
