Residents of the Malokarachay District complain to Putin about health service collapse

The Malokarachay District Hospital is facing deficit of medics; they are not paid their salaries and incentive bonuses; while local residents are denied medical care, free medicines and tests, said the authors of a collective appeal sent to the leadership of Russia and the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 8, at least six people took part in solo pickets near the Malokarachay District Hospital, demanding to provide the infected patients with drugs and medical care.

After the solo pickets, residents of the district held a protest rally, as a result of which they signed an appeal to President Vladimir Putin and the leadership of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic.

The appeal states that doctors don't work in the district polyclinic, because they are not paid their salaries, "the payments and benefits due to those medics, who contact COVID-19 patients, are absent too."

According to local residents, COVID-19 patients are not provided with due free medication, tests and assays. "Being on self-isolation, people can't undergo free COVID-19 test and buy drugs," the appeal says.

It is also stated in the appeal that it is practically impossible for sick locals to make CT (computed tomography) scans, because there is only one CT device in the district. According to local residents, paramedics, especially the ambulance staff, lack protective means.
