Collective prayers held in mosques of Tbilisi and Batumi

Festive namazes (prayers) and sermons on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr were held on May 24 in the mosques of Tbilisi and Batumi. Mosque workers made sure that believers observe the social distance.

At the Batumi mosque, the prayer followed security measures, Aslan Sharashidze, a teacher at the Batumi Pedagogical University, who himself visited the mosque, confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot". "I was in the mosque, praying with everyone. During the service, all the parishioners were in medical masks; we strictly observed the distance of two meters, as recommended by the authorities and the Mufti," Mr Sharashidze has explained.

A solemn namaz and hutba were also held in the Tbilisi Juma Mosque, Yasin Aliev, the dean of the mosque, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the number of people during the sermon was limited.
