Social network users criticize detentions of quarantine violators in Chechnya

In Chechnya, public officers reprimanded almost two dozen men detained without permits and masks, reports a video posted on Instagram. Social network users claim it is a problem in Chechnya to get a permit to leave home.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament and the head of the local operational headquarters, announced that a mandatory "mask regime" was being imposed in the region. Magomed Daudov threatened violators with fines.

"Wearing a protective mask is mandatory for all people, without exception, both for pedestrians and car drivers," said the spokesperson for the Chechen operational headquarters.

Some Instagram users complained that they could not get a permit to leave home.

Let us remind you that this is not the first case of public reprimand of Chechen residents for the quarantine violations. So, on May 2, a video was posted on Instagram in which two residents of the Gudermes District apologized for violating the self-isolation regime. Social network users criticized law enforcers who gathered one and a half dozen detainees in one room.

Meanwhile, Chechen officials have repeatedly demonstrated their neglect of the quarantine measures. In particular, on May 3, Ramzan Kadyrov held a ceremony to finish fasting in the month of Ramadan together with heads of hospitals providing medical treatment for coronavirus-infected patients.
