Resident of Chechnya publicly apologizes for raising money for his niece treatment
The head of the Gudermes District has criticized, on the TV air, the woman who has raised money through social networks for the treatment of a child in parallel with receiving help from the Kadyrov Foundation. A woman's relative apologized to the camera for her.
The mother of a sick girl from the Gudermes District arranged fundraising in social networks for a lung transplant and in a few days raised 190,000 roubles, said the report of the "Grozny" TV Channel. Her daughter had no need in such a surgery, although her disease is serious, doctors Elkhan Suleimanov, the Minister of Public Health of Chechnya, have stated.
It is also noted that the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation allocated 30,000 roubles to this woman; and she was also helped by the District Branch of the Ministry of Public Health. This family is regularly helped with foodstuffs, said Khava Isaeva, Vice President of the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation.
The report says that male relatives "had categorically forbade" Yusupova to raise money; her husband is regularly sending money to the family, which experiences no financial problems, her brother-in-law has assured.
The apologies on TV air were inappropriate, said Umar, a local resident. "Asking for help in treating the girl's non-existent illness is certainly wrong. But, in my opinion, it's even more unacceptable to publicly humiliate a person and force his family to ask for forgiveness," he said.
Aset, another local resident, doubted that officials should check how much money people have raised for treating their children.
