Kadyrov announces curfew in Chechnya

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has announced a strengthening of the quarantine regime and the introduction of curfew since April 3 for pedestrians and vehicles because of the coronavirus epidemic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the number of officially confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Chechnya reached 10; and according to the outcomes of initial testing, 36 preliminary diagnoses were made, the head of the regional Ministry of Public Health said on April 2.

Night travel restrictions have been introduced as part of a plan to combat the coronavirus spread, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated.

"From April 3, we strengthen the quarantine regime. The movement of pedestrians and vehicles in all dwelling settlements of the Chechen Republic is banned from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on April 3 in his Telegram channel, adding that an exception would be made for some organizations and services that have the right to travel at night.
