Three residents of Northern Caucasus arrested in case on financing of terrorism

A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria and two residents of Dagestan, including a believer who visited the "Tangim" Mosque and who disappeared on March 11, are suspected of financing Syrian militants, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kurban-Magomed Medjidov, a visitor to the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala, who disappeared after he was taken away by law enforcers at night on March 11-12, was arrested on the charge of financing terrorism. The man was found in the city of Yessentuki, where he was taken into custody for two months.

According to investigators, in 2017-2018, Dagestani residents Kurban-Magomed Medjidov and Gusein Magomedaliev and Arthur Mendokhov, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, transferred more than 300,000 roubles to members of the international terrorist organizations "IS"* and "Jebhat al-Nusra"**, banned in the Russian Federation, the press service of the ICRF reports today.

The detainees were arrested and interrogated. The ICRF has opened three criminal cases under the article on financing of terrorism, the ICRF's website reports.
