Special and counterterrorist operations
On March 13, law enforcers conducted new Friday raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. Mobile checkpoints were arranged in three places, and more than 40 law enforcers were involved in the raid. They stopped mosque visitors leaving after Friday prayers and wrote down their personal data. The law enforcers stopped only those believers who travelled by car. Some mosque-goers reported they were summoned to police stations in connection with a visit to the mosque.
Disappearances
On March 10, it became known about the disappearance of two persons who arrived to Ingushetia from Novosibirsk. A father of the disappeared brothers said that the law enforcement bodies voiced a version about their recruitment by militants. After the disappearance of the Dzeitov brothers, it became known that they were visiting a Salafi mosque.
At night on March 12, in Dagestan, Kurban-Magomed Medjidov, a resident of Kaspiysk, was taken away by law enforcers to some unknown destination. Since then, his whereabouts are unknown. The man visited the "Tangim" mosque in Makhachkala and took an active part in the life of the mosque. A spokesperson for the "Tangim" Mosque explained that earlier, Kurban-Magomed Medjidov had been put on a police preventive registration list and was in the field of view of the law enforcement bodies, but did not adhere to extremist radical views.
