Azerbaijan reports shelling attacks on villages bordering Armenia

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops were shelled from large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijani reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on March 1, Azerbaijan registered 23 cases of ceasefire violation. On the same day, a head of a village in Armenia announced a shelling attack on the border village of Voskepar from the Azerbaijani direction.

"Units of the Armenian armed forces used large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles and 25 times violated the ceasefire in various directions of the front within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its official website today. The Azerbaijan's positions in the villages of Guschu Airym, Ashagy Askipara, Gyzylgadjyly, and at anonymous heights in the Gazakh District, in the villages of Agbulag and Mundjuglu in the Tovuz District, in the village of Geyali and at anonymous heights in the Gadabay District fell under fire, the Azerbaijani MoD reports.

As at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.

The fire came both from the side of Armenia and from territories under the control of the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities, the Azerbaijani MoD reports.
