On January 20-26, 2020, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of January 20-26, 2020, no one fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On January 24, law enforcers conducted another raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. Dozens of law enforcers took part in it, and some of them were in civilian clothes. Mobile checkpoints were arranged in three places at the exits from the mosque. In Gagarin Street, a mobile checkpoint was arranged long before the beginning of the prayer at the "Tangim" Mosque. Law enforcers wrote down personal data of car drivers who drove away from the mosque and state registration numbers of their cars. No information was reported about any persons detained and taken to a police station.
Detentions
On January 23, the FSB Department for Dagestan reported the detention of six supporters of the "At-Takfir Val-Hijra", an extremist organization banned in Russia. The law enforcement bodies consider the detainees as leaders and active members of a local unit of the extremist organization.
Books and electronic information carriers with extremist materials were found in the course of searches at their detainees' residential addresses, the FSB Department for Dagestan reported.
It should be noted that this is the third week which passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. However, in the week of December 30, 2019-January 5, 2020, six persons were injured in Ingushetia: on December 31, at the entrance to Magas, a checkpoint of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) was attacked. As a result, policeman Zelimkhan Kokorkhoev was killed, and three law enforcers were injured. One of the attackers, Mikail Miziev, was killed, while Akhmed Imagozhev, another attacker, was wounded and hospitalized.
