Muslim Khuchiev appointed interim head of Chechnya

Ramzan Kadyrov has appointed Muslim Khuchiev, the chairman of the Chechen Government, to be the acting head of the republic for the period of his disability.

Kadyrov’s order No. 2-p2 was posted on the website of the head and government of Chechnya on January 15.

“For the period of my temporary disability, starting from January 13, 2020, I hereby impose the duties of the head of the Chechen Republic on Khuchiev, Muslim Magomedovich, the chairman of the government of the Chechen Republic,” says the document, noting also that the decision was made in accordance with Article 76 of the Chechen Constitution.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in February 2019, Muslim Khuchiev was also appointed the acting head of the republic for the period of Ramzan Kadyrov’s temporary disability; the latter then explained this appointment by his catarrhal disease. Djambulat Umarov, the Minister for National Policy of Chechnya, then noted that reporters’ interest in Kadyrov’s state of health was unreasonable.
