Khasan Zyazikov's family stays in distress after his arrest

Family members of Khasan Zyazikov, an arrested Ingush activist, found themselves in distress, brothers of the activist said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khasan Zyazikov, who was detained in a case on a clash between participants of a March rally in Magas and law enforcers, was arrested in Nalchik in July 2019. On December 16, 2019, the Zheleznovodsk City Court extended the arrest of Khasan Zyazikov for other three months.

The family members of Khasan Zyazikov, a participant of the unsanctioned rally in Magas, found themselves "in a difficult situation," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by older brothers of the defendant, who on January 13 arrived from Ingushetia to support Khasan at the trial.

"The Khasan's wife gave birth to their second son two months ago. At present, she is on maternity leave. Our brothers used to help her, but a misfortune occurred. One of the brothers died of cancer, and the second was recently killed in an accident," Ibragim Zyazikov said.

"My brother [Ibragim] and I help the Khasan's wife as much as we can. But we cannot do a lot. I work as a guard at school, and Ibragim is a driver. Our salaries are low. We face a series of troubles, and we don't see the end of them," Musa Zyazikov complained.

"Our brother is a calm, non-conflicting person. And he is not dangerous. Why do they keep him at SIZO (pre-trial prison)? He should have been left at home under recognizance not to leave, and his family would not suffer so much. Our justice should show mercy instead of crushing a person," Ibragim Zyazikov said.
