Two new schools in Chechnya named after Akhmat Kadyrov
Officials have named two new schools built in Gudermes and Shelkovskaya after the first president of Chechnya in order to win Ramzan Kadyrov's favour, local residents believe. In its turn, the Chechen Ministry of Education has noted these secondary schools have allowed eliminating three-shift attendance of classes in several other schools.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Chechnya, the cult of Akhmat Kadyrov began to be created immediately after his death in 2004. In particular, the main sports complex of Grozny and the mosque in the capital of Chechnya were named after Kadyrov Senior.
The intensive "Akhmatization" of the Chechen ideology is on, said Ruslan Kutaev, the head of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations. Ramzan Kadyrov is trying to link all the good in Chechnya with the name of his father, said Nasir Buluev, the Assembly's representative in international organizations of Europe.
The above Ministry of Education has explained that both schools, opened on January 10, 2020, were named after the first president of Chechnya, Akhmat Kadyrov, by decisions of local authorities. However, local residents have noted that naming the new schools after Akhmat Kadyrov is strengthening the cult of his person.
"If this goes on like that, we'll have no other names apart from this one," said Lechi, a local resident.
"This is no longer annoying people, but makes them laughing. It looks like we've returned to the times of the USSR, where the Communist Party associated all the achievements with the name of Lenin," Milana, a resident of Chechnya, has added.
