On December 30, 2019-January 5, 2020, six persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from December 30, 2019, to January 5, 2020, at least six people suffered in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: two of them died and four were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The casualties include one law enforcer and one alleged participant of the armed underground in Ingushetia.

Attacks on law enforcers

On December 31, 2019, at the entrance to the city of Magas, two alleged militants knocked down with their car an inspector of the road-and-patrol service (DPS), who was standing on the road, and then attacked the police crew with their knives. As a result, Zelimkhan Kokorkhoev, a policeman, died; and three other law enforcers were wounded.

One of the attackers, Mikail Miziev, was shot dead; the other, Akhmed Imagozhev, was seriously wounded. The "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, has claimed responsibility for the attack. On January 1, law enforcers conducted searches in Nazran, in the houses of Miziev and Imagozhev, as well as in the Cultural Development Centre in Magas; law enforcers have suggested that Imagozhev had worked there. The father of the 18-year-old Mikail Miziev is the director of the Centre.
