Gyulmira Aslanova, Polad's wife, has appealed to Ilham Aliev asking him to stop the criminal prosecution of her husband, the "Turan" News Agency has reported. She noted that her husband had been unreasonably arrested for publishing facts of extortion by law enforcers at the border, based on concrete proofs, the "Contact.az" reports.

According to the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, Aslanov had secret meeting with agents of foreign intelligence services and was attracted by them to cooperation. His advocate, Elchin Sadygov, spoke about threats received by him.

Gyulmira Aslanova said that their six-year-old daughter has been waiting for her father for seven months. "The best New Year gift for the child would be the return of her father and a joint celebration," the "Contact.az" quotes her as saying.
