Police declare Dagestani resident complaining about torture as militant

Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov and Magomedgadji Magomedov, detained in Makhachkala, are suspected of involvement in the armed underground, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announces today amid reports about torture of Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov and weapons planted to him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 30, in Makhachkala, a court pronounced a decision to arrest for a month local resident Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov, who was detained together with driver Magomedgadji Magomedov on the charge of possession of weapons. During an interrogation, Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov claimed that he was subjected to torture with electric current. Relatives and advocate of the Makhachkala resident believe that the weapons were planted on him.

46-year-old Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov and 29-year-old Magomedgadji Magomedov, detained in Makhachkala, are suspected of illegal possession of weapons and also of involvement in the ranks of militants, the spokesperson for the Dagestani MIA reports.

"It was revealed that they were accomplices of the militants, in particular, the criminal grouping led by Aselderov, who was killed in 2016," the "Interfax-South" quotes today the spokesperson for the Dagestani MIA as reporting.

During a search of the Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov's house, a "weapon and ammunition hiding" was found, the "Interfax-South" reports with reference to the spokesperson for the Dagestani MIA.

Abdulbari Ramazanov, an advocate of the arrested man, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the defence has a video record showing how people in camouflage clothes carry bulky bags to the attic of the Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov's house. The bags contained weapons later found during the search, the advocate suggested. Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov himself told the defender that the law enforcers brought the weapons to the private house where he was tortured and forced him to take the weapon in his hands.
