Video report of disappeared Chechen native confirms version of his kidnaping

Azamat Ibragimov, a native of Chechnya, who arrived from Canada and disappeared, recorded a video of his walk around the centre of Grozny a week after his disappearance. In his video, Azamat Ibragimov called on natives of Chechnya living abroad to stop criticizing the republic's authorities. He did not record the video by his own will, suggested Instagram users and residents of Chechnya.

Relatives of Azamat Ibragimov, who came to Chechnya from Canada together with his mother, have not been aware of his whereabouts since November 8.

According to the relatives, on that day, Azamat Ibragimov was taken away from home by unidentified men, the magazine "Dosh" reports on its website today.

After the Azamat Ibragimov's disappearance, his relatives watched a video on the Instagram public account @eldit_net, in which he was walking around the centre of Grozny and saying on a video camera that "everything was good in Chechnya," the "Kavkaz.Realii" reported on November 21.

Despite the video posted on Instagram, Azamat Ibragimov did not contact his relatives, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reported.

Many users of the social network suspected that Azamat Ibragimov recorded the video not by his own will.

"Azamat is in the hands of [public officers], and it's clear what for he was forced to record such a video ... He was kidnapped, and he is not at large now, that's clear. Take a closer look, he is lame in both legs and not happy with all that," writes user chechency_v_avstrii.
