Residents of Chechnya question report on Putin's and Kadyrov's ratings
Chechen authorities have reported zero protest activity in the region and ratings of Vladimir Putin and Ramzan Kadyrov. Public discontent in Chechnya is great, but people are afraid to protest, local residents assert.
Galas Taimaskhanov, the head of Ramzan Kadyrov's administration, has stated that the republic took the first place in terms of the efficiency of domestic policy, ahead of other regions of the Russian Federation.
The author of the report at the "Grozny" TV Channel has noted that Chechnya "is in the lead by a number of key indicators," including confidence in Russian President and the head of the region, and added that the Chechen authorities "are doing everything for the people."
The absence of protests in Chechnya is explained by harsh authorities' actions towards those who disagree, the residents of the republic interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" assert.
"A lot of people are unhappy with many things, from unauthorized detentions and torture by law enforcers, and up to unemployment, the quality of medical services, education, problems with heating ... The authorities have just set up a system of collective responsibility and created such an atmosphere that no one dares to protest," said Malika, a local resident.
Another resident of Chechnya named Idris has noted that any dissent is persecuted. He mentioned the criminal prosecution of the public figure, Ruslan Kutaev, and Oyub Titiev, the head of the regional branch of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", as examples.
