Islam Kadyrov's apologies outrage residents of Chechnya

In his interview, Islam Kadyrov, a former Mayor of Grozny, has apologized to Ramzan Kadyrov and his comrades, but not to the people who suffered from his actions, the residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have stated. Internet users have expressed indignation that Ramzan Kadyrov's official has not been punished.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 24, the "Grozny" TV Channel released video fragments in which Islam Kadyrov, then the mayor of Grozny, was threatening residents of the capital of Chechnya with reprisals and using an electric shocker against a woman. On November 3, Islam Kadyrov publicly recognized his treatment of detained Grozny residents as "inadequate and inappropriate," explaining his behaviour by consequences of his serious traumas.

Islam Kadyrov commented on his brutal actions against Grozny residents in an interview taken live on the Instagram by Chingiz Akhmadov, a journalist of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company).

YouTube users doubt the sincerity of Islam Kadyrov's repentance and express indignation that it's enough for Kadyrov's associates to apologize for torturing people. "He should have apologized not to Ramzan, but to the woman he had tormented with electric shocker well before the trial, even if she was guilty of anything," the user Djovhar Dudaev wrote in his comment to the video "Guarant Guarant". "He has no excuse."

The aim of the interview with Islam Kadyrov was to whitewash the former Mayor of Grozny, the residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" are sure.

"It turns out that he had used a stun gun against women, insulted and threatened to execute them exclusively for the best of reasons, in order to save them from jail – this is how they are trying to present the situation to us now. This interview only convinced me of the fact that Islam Kadyrov would not be seriously punished," said Abubakar, a local resident.

Sakhib, a resident of Grozny, has noted that Islam Kadyrov apologized first of all to his "padishah". "Islam Kadyrov has apologized first to his 'padishah' Ramzan (Kadyrov), then to his comrades 'on the way of Akhmat,' and only then he mentioned his nation. But he failed to apologize even with a single word to those women and men who had suffered from his [actions]," the man has noted.
