Relatives of Baksan residents suspected of financing terrorism turn to HRC "Memorial"

Relatives are still unaware of whereabouts of Asker Khamukov, the detained founder of the "One Body" Charity Fund. His sister, also suspected of financing terrorism, is being held at hospital under guard.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Asker Khamukov was detained on October 7 in Baksan together with his pregnant sister, who gave birth to a baby the day after the detention.

According to Mukhamed Khamukov, Asker's father, his son was convoyed to Moscow last night. "At present, we know nothing about his whereabouts," he said, adding that the detained lying-in woman is still in hospital. "Our daughter was transferred from an ordinary ward to a special one, where she is kept under guard. They let nobody to visit her. We are now organizing her defence. Asker's advocate was also not allowed to study the procedural documents. We've turned to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) 'Memorial'," Mukhamed Khamukov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
