Grozny residents complain about mass police raids conducted to check people's apartments

Residents of Grozny report that for several days in a row, armed law enforcers come with inspections to people's apartments. The Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MFA) announces preventive measures carried out on the eve of the City Day. Law enforcers are not entitled to conduct a mass check of documents without a reason, an advocate notes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers' raids carried out on the eve of the holidays are typical for Chechnya. So, before the New Year holidays, law enforcers enhanced the security measures in Grozny and conducted passport checks on December 25.

Residents of Grozny report that on September 30, law enforcers started coming with inspections to people's apartments in different parts of the capital of Chechnya.

"On September 30, law enforcers were checking apartments in high-rise buildings. Women panicked a little when they saw a lot of armed men in military uniforms. Meanwhile, many law enforcers were wearing helmets and holding submachine guns," noted Mansur, a resident of Grozny.
