NAC reports prevention of terror act in Dagestan
A detained supporter of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation, manufactured a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) while he was plotting a terror act in Dagestan, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 4, the FSB reported about nine IEDs discovered by law enforcers on the outskirts of the village of Gimry.
The recent case of bombing took place in Dagestan on May 9, 2018. Then, in the village of Chirkey, a room for a ziyarat was blown up at the grave of Sheikh Said of Chirkei. The recent terror act in the republic was an attack in Kizlyar, where on February 18, 2018, during the Maslenitsa holiday, a 23-year-old local resident opened fire on people.
A young man, born in 2000, was detained in the Tarumovsky District of Dagestan. Law enforcers suggest that he was storing an IED of large capacity in a hiding in the forest.
The alleged militant was detained when he tried to pick up the IED from the hiding in order to attack the law enforcement bodies and authorities of Dagestan. "It has been found out that since August 2019, he has been a supporter of the IS," the NAC reports on its website.
The recent armed incident in Dagestan was registered on June 22. Law enforcers shot and killed two suspected IS militants in the area between the villages of Andirei and Karlanyurt in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. According to the NAC, the killed suspects were plotting an attack on law enforcers.
During the first six months of 2019, four armed incidents occurred in Dagestan. The recent bombing was registered in the spring of 2018.
