Version about plans of Aziev killed in Grozny voiced out without proofs

The official version of the death of the 18-year-old Usman Aziev in Grozny, as well as statements about his plans to attack law enforcers, is causing distrust among local residents.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on September 9, on the Peter and Paul Highway in Grozny, the GIBDD (traffic police) inspectors, following the received "orientation message", stopped a Ford car, driven by Usman Aziev, 18. According to law enforcers, the driver fired a pistol shot at policemen and was shot dead by return fire. Akhmed Dudaev, an assistant to the head of Chechnya and Director of the "Grozny" Chechen State TV and Radio Company (ChGTRK), stated that the casualty had planned to attack law enforcers. At the same time, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has not yet confirmed this version.

The law enforcers' version about the September 9 incident in Grozny, and the statement that Aziev had planned to attack law enforcers have caused questions of the residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Where have law enforcers got proofs that the guy had planned to attack law enforcers? There should be some motivation for making such statements," Fatima, a local activist, believes.

"The police said that this guy opened fire at them and was killed by return fire. But no one was hurt among the policemen," said another activist named Idris.

"I saw a video record from the scene. There are bullet holes seen in the area of the rear and side windshields of the car [that was driven by Aziev]. It seems to me that it is more likely that the car was fired from behind," said Sultan, a resident of Grozny.
