Contract soldier blown up on a mine in Chechnya
A paratrooper died from wounds he had got during military exercises in a mountainous-wooded area in Chechnya, reported the military commandant's office. The deceased man was Mikhail Bezelt, a resident of Yekaterinburg, his wife reported.
Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by the spokesman for the Chechen military commandant's office that the incident occurred on August 21. According to the spokesman, the 22-year-old contract soldier of the airborne division was detached to the republic. Together with other soldiers, he was practicing combat missions in the south of the Chechen Republic and was blown up on an explosive device, reported the spokesman for the Chechen commandant's office.
"The soldier got severe injuries by shrapnel to his abdominal cavity, as well as to his legs. The victim was evacuated by a military transport helicopter, but doctors did not succeed in saving his life," reported the spokesman for the Chechen military commandant's office. He has also added that an official verification of the incident is underway.
