Khasavyurt court arrests Kemran Isaev
On August 20, the Khasavyurt District Court arrested Kemran Isaev, a resident of Dagestan, who was declared kidnapped by his relatives, within a case of firearm possession.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 19, relatives and fellow villagers of the 24-year-old Kemran Isaev gathered near the building of the Khasavyurt ROVD (District Interior Division). They recorded a video appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, with a demand to clear out Isaev's detention. According to Isaev's acquaintances and relatives, law enforcers kidnapped the young man and planted prohibited items on him. On August 20, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan distributed a video, in which Isaev confesses to the fact that the firearm belonged to him, and he intended to hand it over to the police.
The court has sent Isaev to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) for a month, until September 18, his advocate, Ruslan Umarov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The investigator argued at the trial that Isaev could hide or obstruct the justice, but failed to justify his arguments, said the advocate.
"If we trust their own materials, which Isaev had signed, it was a voluntary surrender of the firearm. He is a Category II invalid and has three dependent small children; he has no foreign passport; he was never convicted before and never aroused any law enforcers' interest; and by his offence he has caused no damage to the state. There were no grounds to arrest him. We'll appeal against this ruling within three days," the advocate Umarov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
