Law enforcers associate "Legal Initiative" with protests in Magas

The rallies in Magas and recent protests in Moscow are backed up by same people, who organize mass riots, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has stated. The searches conducted in the Moscow and Ingush offices of the "Legal Initiative" were associated with this version, rights defenders assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today law enforcers have searched the office of the "Legal Initiative" located in the city of Nazran. Two days before, on August 14, a search was held in the Moscow office of the "Legal Initiative".

The search in the Nazran office of the "Legal Initiative" was carried out by agents of the MIA's Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) by the order of Police Colonel Musa Makitov. The order indicated that policemen were studying a possible link of protests in Moscow with those in Northern Caucasus, the RBC (RosBiznesConsulting) has reported today.

The MIA believes that the actions in Northern Caucasus and those in the Russian capital were supported by one and the same "unidentified group of people" that coordinates the activities of "North-Caucasian autonomous NGOs and public associations receiving foreign funding." According to law enforcers, the mission of the group is to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region.
