In Georgia, hunger-striker hospitalized
Activist Khatuna Beridze, who participated in the hunger strike in front of the Bidzina Ivanishvili's residence in Shekvetili with the demand for the resignation of the Georgian Interior Minister, was hospitalized.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Georgia, protest actions have been held since June 20. Rallies are organized in front of the Georgian parliament building every day, and starting from June 23, several hunger-strikers stay at the place around the clock.
In Tbilisi, the protesters succeeded in seeking the resignation of the Speaker of the Parliament and holding of elections in 2020 under a proportional system. However, their demand for the resignation of Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakhariya still remains unfulfilled.
Another hunger strike with the demand for the resignation of the Georgian Interior Minister has been going on for 11 days in the village of Shekvetili in front of the residence of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the ruling "Georgian Dream" Party. The Shekvetili village is located 43 kilometers from Batumi, and several people participate in the protest action.
This morning, Khatuna Beridze, one of the hunger-strikers, has felt ill, and she was hospitalized, the "News-Georgia" reports.
"The health states of the hunger-strikers are worsening every day, but the people do not intend to stop their protest action," stated Bondo Tedoradze, the chairman of the Kobuleti branch of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party.
