Derbent women hold action in support of their detained sons

In the city of Derbent, Elena Barzukaeva and Zeinab Kurbanova have held solo pickets with a demand to release their sons, detained within the case of weapon possession.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, relatives of three residents of Derbent turned to the police with their applications about the kidnapping of their sons. Later, it turned out that all the three young men were detained for illegal dealing with explosives, weapons and ammunition.

On June 20, in Derbent, Elena Barzukaeva and Zeinab Kurbanova held solo pickets in defence of their detained sons. Both women are convinced of their sons' innocence and demand to free them.

The picketers have noted that they learned about the whereabouts of their sons only after Omar Omarov, the head of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan, to whom the women turned for help, had visited the detainees.

According to Ms Barzukaeva, on June 21, she and Kurbanova plan to continue their solo pickets, this time – in Makhachkala.
