Grozny residents distrust outcomes of prosecutor's check of woman's death
The Chechen Prosecutor's Office has refuted the media version that in Grozny, in order to hide a road accident, a woman's body was dropped from a high-rise building. However, local residents have pointed to precedents, when perpetrators of road accidents were whitewashed by means of frauds.
On June 4, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reported, referring to its sources, that in May, an expensive SUV killed a 60-year-old woman in the area of Minutka Square in Grozny. Eyewitnesses stated that instead of the police and ambulance, some people arrived at the accident venue, took the body of the woman into one of the nearest high-rise buildings and dropped it from the 11th floor. According to eyewitnesses, this was done in order to hide the death of the woman in the road accident.
After conducting a check, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office has declared that the journalists' version was not confirmed.
Meanwhile, local residents have pointed out that similar staging in order to whitewash the perpetrators of road accidents is not uncommon in Chechnya.
"Given the today's situation in the republic, I fully admit that such a fact of staging the woman's suicide, after she was killed in a road accident, could take place," Aslambek, a local resident, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, "especially, if our officials or their close ones are involved."
The version of the imitation of the woman's fall from a high-rise building seems realistic, especially if the perpetrator of the road accident is close to some high-ranking official, Islam, a Grozny resident, agrees. "The republic's leadership, Kadyrov's entourage and all their relatives and friends are in fact an untouchable caste, who is beyond not only secular laws, but even of the norms of our customs," said Islam.
